Batt insulation in Wichita Falls
Fiberglass and mineral wool batts for walls, additions and floors, cut to fill every cavity with no gaps.

Batts for walls, floors and open framing
Batts are precut blankets of fiberglass or mineral wool that fit between studs and joists. They are the standard choice whenever the framing is open: new houses, additions, garage conversions, remodels, and floors in older homes that sit on pier and beam.
A batt only delivers its rated R-value when it fills the cavity edge to edge. A gap at the top plate, a batt crammed behind a pipe, or a hole left around an outlet becomes a path for summer heat and winter wind. We cut and split every piece around what is in the cavity, and that tidy fit is what inspectors look for too.
Exterior walls in this part of Texas take a beating from both directions: afternoon sun on west walls in summer, and cold north wind in winter. Full, snug batts in those walls make the rooms behind them steadier year round.

Batts, blown in or spray foam?
| Where | Usually the best choice | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Open exterior walls in a new build | Batts or spray foam | Batts cost less, foam also seals air |
| Attic floor of an existing home | Blown in | Covers joists and wiring with no seams |
| Floor of an older pier and beam home | Batts with supports | Fits between open joists from underneath |
| Walls of a metal shop | Closed cell spray foam | Bonds to the steel and stops condensation |
| Rim joists and odd shapes | Closed cell spray foam | Seals spots a batt cannot fill |
ENERGY STAR recommends R-19 for floors over unconditioned space in climate zone 3, which includes Wichita County. For why sealing matters as much as R-value here, read air sealing against wind and dust.
What a careful batt install looks like
Full height, no gaps
Every batt reaches top and bottom plate and touches both studs.
Split around wiring
Batts are split to wrap wires and pipes instead of being squashed behind them.
Clean cuts at boxes
Outlets and switches get a neat cutout, never a stuffed or empty space.
Held up under floors
Floor batts are supported tight against the subfloor so they stay in place.

What batt insulation costs
The price comes down to wall or floor area, cavity depth, the R-value and material you choose, and how easy the space is to reach. Working from underneath an older house takes longer than open walls on a new slab.

Batt insulation questions
My older home has cold floors in winter. Can batts help?
- If it sits on pier and beam with room to work underneath, yes.
- The batts need solid support so they stay against the subfloor.
Can batts go into finished walls?
- Not without removing drywall. For closed walls, insulation blown in through small holes is usually the better route.
Fiberglass or mineral wool?
- Fiberglass is the budget pick.
- Mineral wool is denser, quieter and more fire resistant.
Do you work with builders?
- Yes. We price from plans and work around the construction schedule.
