Insulation removal and replacement in Wichita Falls
Insulation ruined by storm roof leaks or rodents vacuumed out, the attic sealed, and fresh insulation put back in.

When the old insulation has to go
Clean, dry insulation can usually stay and be topped up. Damaged insulation is another matter. Around Wichita Falls the usual culprits are storms and critters. Hail cracks shingles, wind lifts flashing, and a hard rain finds the weak spot. Water soaks into the attic insulation, mats it down and leaves stains and odor behind, sometimes long after the roof is fixed.
Rats, mice, squirrels and raccoons cause the rest. When the weather turns cold they look for a warm attic, and they nest in the insulation, tunnel through it and leave droppings everywhere. We remove the old material with a high power vacuum that runs from the attic straight to a truck or sealed bags outside, so none of it passes through your living space.
Once the attic floor is bare, it is the best chance you will get to seal the gaps that let wind and dust in. Then fresh insulation goes back in to the right depth.
- Vacuum removal straight to the truck or sealed bags
- Leak and entry point check so you know what caused the damage
- Droppings and nesting cleared out with the old material
- Air sealing while the attic floor is open
- New insulation blown in or sprayed to the right depth
Signs it is time to clear it out
Water stains or matted spots
Insulation that got soaked during a storm loses much of its value and can hold odor and mold.
Ceiling stains below
A brown ring on the ceiling usually means wet insulation above it.
Droppings and nests
Signs of rodents or squirrels mean the insulation should be replaced, not covered.
Scratching overhead
Noises in the attic on cold nights often mean animals have moved in.
A lingering smell
A stale or musty odor from the attic hatch points to trapped moisture or contamination.
Smoke or fire damage
Insulation keeps the smell of smoke long after the fire.
If your insulation is just thin but clean and dry, removal is probably not needed. A blown in top up costs less.
Clear it, seal it, refill it

Reinsulate
New insulation goes in to the depth on your estimate.
What removal costs
Removal pricing depends on the attic size, how much material is up there, how easy it is to reach and how much cleanup the space needs. A walkable attic goes faster than a low, cramped one. We price removal and the new insulation together so you see the full job in one number.

Removal questions
Will old insulation come through my house?
- No. The vacuum hose runs from the attic directly outside.
Should I fix the roof first?
- Yes. Get storm damage repaired before new insulation goes in.
- If you are filing an insurance claim, ask your adjuster about the insulation too.
What about the animals?
- Have pest or wildlife control remove them and close the entry points first.
- Otherwise they will move into the new insulation.
How long does it take?
- Most attics take a day. Heavy contamination or tight access can take longer.
Could old insulation be hazardous?
- Usually not. Some older homes have vermiculite, which can contain asbestos.
- If we see it, we stop and recommend testing before anything is disturbed.
