What affects the cost of insulation in Wichita Falls?
How the insulation types compare, what moves the price up or down, and how to get a written price for your home or shop.

How the options compare
Every house and building is different, so we only price work in writing after a free inspection. The table shows how the main options stack up against each other for the same area, from lowest cost to highest.
| Insulation type | Relative cost | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| Radiant barrier | Lower | Sunny roofs over attics that already have good depth |
| Blown in fiberglass or cellulose | Lower | Adding depth to an existing attic |
| Batts | Lower to moderate | Open walls, new construction, floors over pier and beam |
| Open cell spray foam | Moderate to higher | Attic roof decks, interior walls |
| Closed cell spray foam | Highest | Metal shops and barns, rim joists, thin cavities |
| Removal | Depends on the attic | Insulation damaged by roof leaks or rodents |
Spray foam is measured in board feet. One board foot is one square foot of foam one inch thick, so three inches of foam over 200 square feet is 600 board feet.
Six things that shape every quote
Square footage
The size of the attic floor, roof deck, walls or metal panels sets the starting point.
Material
Blown in fiberglass is at the low end. Closed cell foam is at the high end.
Depth
More inches means more material. We size it to the R-value the space needs.
Old insulation
Material ruined by a storm leak or rodents has to come out before new goes in.
Access
Low attics, steep roofs and tall shop eaves take more time and sometimes a lift.
Sealing and prep
Air sealing, eave baffles and covering belongings are part of a job done right.
How much insulation do you need?
Wichita, Clay and Archer counties are all in climate zone 3. For this zone, ENERGY STAR recommends:
- Attic with no insulation: R-49
- Attic with 3 to 4 inches already: add R-38
- Floors over unconditioned space: R-19
Most attics we see around Wichita Falls fall somewhere in between, so measuring yours tells you more than any average. Read how much attic insulation a Wichita Falls home needs.
Will it pay off?
That depends on your starting point, where your ducts run and how you use the house. An attic with a few inches of old, packed down insulation has far more to gain than one already near the recommended depth. Because our homes face hard heat in summer, cold fronts in winter and wind all year, sealing air leaks can matter as much as adding R-value. We will tell you plainly which upgrades fit your house and which do not.
Getting your price
After a free inspection, you get a written estimate that lists the material, depth and every area covered, so you can compare it line by line with any other quote. Use the form below, or send a photo of your attic or shop on the contact page and we can often give you a rough idea before we visit.
Cost questions
Is spray foam worth the higher price?
- Often yes for attics with ductwork, drafty older homes and metal shops.
- For a simple top up in a sound attic, blown in is usually the better value.
Does a metal shop cost more to insulate than a house?
- It depends on the size and the foam thickness.
- Shops usually need closed cell foam, which costs more per board foot, but there is no attic floor to cover.
Will insurance cover insulation after a storm?
- Sometimes, when a covered roof leak soaked it.
- Ask your adjuster, and we can give you a written estimate for the claim.
Is the estimate free?
- Yes. The inspection and written estimate cost nothing and carry no obligation.
Are there rebates or tax credits?
- Programs change often.
- Check with your electric provider and current federal tax guidance before you buy.
Why do quotes vary so much?
- Usually the depth, material or prep work is different.
- Compare what each quote includes, not just the bottom line.
